Biography

A true underdog story, director/writer Ryan Curtis grew up outside of Boston on welfare and food stamps. The oldest of seven children in a split family, Ryan turned to sports to escape the neighborhood and made short films with his friends as a hobby.

Attending Fitchburg State University (UMASS) on a basketball scholarship, Ryan studied Broadcast Journalism and Theater. On August 29, 2001, Ryan joined the US ARMY. Twelve days later, planes flew into the Pentagon and Twin Towers. Eight years and two deployments later, Ryan attributes his creative passion and leadership to his time and valuable training in the military.

After the military and with limited connections, Ryan followed his dream to the film and television industry in Los Angeles. Since his plunge into the industry, he has worked for shows such as Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, NCIS, The Glass House and Hell’s Kitchen.  Ryan has also worked on films such as The Amazing Spiderman, Captain America, The Motel Life and ABC’s Home for the Holidays campaign.

Currently, Ryan directs commercials, short films and shoots three shows for the Oprah Winfrey Network. He has appeared on THE VIEW, GOOD MORNING AMERICA and multiple NPR programs because of his work. He continues to follow his passion with an ultimate goal of major motion picture drama and action films. He can also do a mean cartwheel. Fact.
